- Description
- A voluntary non-medical facility. Provides crisis counselling and a safe, therapeutic environment for men and women to stay throughout a mental health crisis as an alternative to hospitalization. Average length of stay is three to five days. Seven beds are available.
Workers are available to:- discuss crisis situation
- identify both current strengths and any challenges to overcome
- assist with short-term goal setting while developing new planning and coping skills
- support in regaining confidence and independence
- provide information and referrals as required
- Eligibility
- Individuals ages 16 years and up experiencing a self identified mental health crisis, who are agreeable to the service, who are not impaired by alcohol or drugs and who do not pose a health and safety risk to themselves or others.
- Application Process
- Appropriate referrals can come from therapists, counsellors, psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, community agencies or any other professionals with a working knowledge of current situation and relevant history
