Addresses the quality of physical and emotional care given to residents of long-term care, and the general environment of the home in which they live

• brings concerns to the attention of the general public, works with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care on the compliance of long-term care homes to the regulations for the operation of the home, and the care and safety of residents
• works with key stakeholders in ongoing initiatives for improving the quality of care given to residents provides information to relatives of residents in long-term care facilities concerning residents' rights and responsibilities under government legislation
