Description

Services and educational programs to promote self-reliance and cultural awareness within the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community

  • Learn American Sign Language (ASL)
    • Community ASL classes, 1 on 1 support and tailored programming
    • Family ASL instruction for families with a Deaf signing family memeber
  • community support and information and referral services
    • 1 on 1 support, facilitating communication and navigating available community services, programs and supports
  • employment support services
  • newcomer settlement services
  • recreational programming for Deaf and Hard of Hearing children and their families
  • presentations, consultation and community engagement with service clubs, schools, businesses and other organizations

Durham Deaf Club (DDC) and the Oshawa Deaf Senior Citizens (ODSC)

  • clubs host social events for members of the Deaf community, and welcome hearing members wanting to become involved in the community
