- Description
- Certified Respiratory Educators may conduct spirometry and provide education regarding:
- smoking cessation, basic pathophysiology of Asthma and/or COPD, inhaler technique and tools for monitoring disease (Peak Flow Monitor, Asthma Diary), symptomatic relief strategies, allergies and environment control and other community resources available
- helps patients develop individualized action plans and goals to self-manage their chronic lung condition
- delivered by a Registered Nurse or Respiratory Therapist with additional certifications in respiratory health and a specialized interest in the management of Asthma and COPD
- Eligibility
- Individuals with chronic lung conditions such as Asthma and COPD who are registered patients of Barrie Family Health Team Doctors/Nurse Practitioners
- Application Process
- Referral from a Family Health Team Physician or Nurse Practitioner
