Description
Interest free loans assist individuals in establishing themselves in safety
  • funds can be used for rent deposits, moving expenses, basic furniture, storage expenses, utility deposits and arrears
  • other expenses approved on case by case basis
  • not intended for rental arrears if not directly related to violence
Eligibility
Trans and cisgender women, and Two Spirit and gender-diverse individuals, 18 years and older, recently leaving abuse (within last 12 months); must have legal immigration status in Canada

Residency Requirements: Must reside in, or be in process of moving to, City of Toronto or Peel Region at time of application
Application Process
Referral from community or social service agency; referring worker completes form and submits letter of support (must be on agency letterhead and addressed to YMCA Toronto December 6 Fund)

Documents must include referral form and support letter from referring agency, 2 pieces of identification (including photo ID), source of income (social assistance accepted), active bank account, proof of expense related to loan
