- Specialized nurses on call 24 hours for emergencies
Emergency Services - for those who experienced a sexual assault within the past 12 days, were assaulted by a partner within the past 2 weeks or a child who has been or is suspected to have been assaulted in the past 72 hours- physical examination and treatment of injuries, emotional support
- testing and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, emergency contraception
- collection of evidence of assault
- risk assessment, safety planning and referral to community services
Non-Emergency Services - for children, youth and adults who have experienced a sexual assault outside of the emergency care guidelines, and/or are experiencing abuse by a current or former partner and have no injuries at this time- follow-up medical care
- documentation of injuries
- risk assessment. safety planning,
- counselling services, family support
- Eligibility
- Emergency services: for youth and adults who experienced sexual assault within the past 12 days or were assaulted by a partner within the past two weeks, or children who were or are suspected to have been sexually assaulted in the past 72 hours
Serves all of York Region - Application Process
- To access emergency services, go to emergency room at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital (can also go to Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital but there may be a delay) and ask for DASA nurse or call 905-883-1212 ext 0 and ask for the DASA nurse to be contacted; for non-emergency services, book an appointment Mon-Fri 8 am- 5 pm at 905-883-2216
