The WRDSB's Essential Skills Upgrading (ESU) offers free upgrading of math, reading, writing, digital and other skills needed for work, home and school. ESU helps people who have the goal of preparing for

• employment
• further training (including college and apprenticeship)
• writing the Canada Adult Education Credential (CAEC) test to earn their Ontario High School Equivalency Certificate (CAEC is the May 2024 replacement for the GED)

ESU is an Employment Ontario Get SET program

As a part of preparing for employment, support is offered to people wishing to prepare to write the GED test. ESU - KW is an Employment Ontario - Get SET program funded by the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development. Operates at the OALCF Level 2.

Get SET

Literacy and Basic Skills training, including numeracy, digital, communication and interpersonal skills

• helps learners prepare for employment, apprenticeship, secondary-school credit, post-secondary education and greater independence

Services support programming for Deaf, Anglophone, Francophone and Indigenous learners

• Ontario adults 18 years and older who are employed or unemployed and receive income support, with reading, writing and math skills below Grade 12
• Must have facility in English
