- Support for families/caregivers from pregnancy to school entry on topics such as pregnancy, birth, baby care, breastfeeding/infant feeding, nutrition, safety, parenting strategies, and other community services
Services include:
Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program - a free, voluntary home visiting program for families from pregnancy up to school entry. The program offers support to pregnant moms, their partners, and families. As part of the program, the public health nurse may introduce a family home visitor. They are experienced parents who have special training to help families. Public health nurses can provide telephone support or home visits to help you learn about:- having a healthy pregnancy and birth
- connecting with your baby
- how children grow and develop, as well as what you can do to help
- being a parent
- breastfeeding, infant feeding, and healthy eating
- taking care of yourself and your family
- maternal mental health support
- other services available to you and your child in the community
Prenatal Classes - The Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit offers a combination of in-person and online prenatal classes. To register for in-person classes call 519-426-6170 or 905-318-6623 ext. 3250. To register for the online prenatal program go to www.hnhu.org/prenatalclasses
Well Baby & Breastfeeding Drop-in - A free program for families and caregivers of infants and toddlers. Drop-ins are provided in partnership with EarlyON Child and Family Centres across Haldimand and Norfolk counties. Speak to a Public Health Nurse about infant feeding, nutrition, parenting strategies, and community supports and resources - Eligibility
