Peer Support and Self Help Groups
Assistance setting recovery goals, life skills training and coaching, psycho-education, social networking and support, links to services; locations and schedules vary, contact for information
- Drop-in Groups for registered peer clients include Port Perry Growing Together, North Durham Peer, CARE, Mindful Drop-in, Wellness Social, Stronger Together, Young Adults Group (16-25 years), and social and recreation groups
- Day Programs recreation groups include New Leaf (virtual) and New Winds (in-person)
- HOPE Series psycho-educational wellness groups such as Understanding Anger, Communication and Conflict, Enhancing Self Esteem, Anxiety and Panic
- Mindfulness Practice for symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression or intrusive thoughts
- Skills Practice Sessions on topics such as Self-Awareness, Interpersonal Interactions, Probing Your Principles, Overcoming Obstacles, Minding Your Emotions
- Suicide Survivor Ongoing Drop-in Group for anyone who has lost someone to suicide
- Voices Against Stigma Everywhere (VASE) weekly group of peer speakers on mental health, substance use disorders, and wellness
Mental Health First Aid Certification Course, psychological health and safety training for individuals, workplaces, schools, community groups; in partnership with Mental Health Commission of Canada, contact [email protected] for information
