John Howard Society Intimate Partner Violence Program
- Description
An 8 session program developed utilizing restorative practice principles and the Duluth Model to assist individuals who have been involved in incidents of intimate partner violence.
Sessions include:
- Defining domestic violence and understanding anger
- Understanding power and control, cycle of abuse, and intergenerational trauma
- How beliefs and attitudes influence behaviour
- The effect of abuse on children, partner, self, and family
- Impacts of substance use/abuse
- Building healthy relationships and respectful communication
- Effective conflict resolution skills
- Eligibility
- Open to individuals over the age of 18. Separate groups for men and women.
- Application Process
- Referrals welcome from court, lawyers, community partners, or self-referral. Contact for information.
