Financial Assistance for Funeral, Burial, and Cremation
- Description
Provides financial assistance on behalf of deceased Hamilton residents who do not have sufficient funds in their estate to fully cover the cost of a basic funeral, burial, and/or cremation.
Next of kin, any relative, or bona fide friend can contact the Special Supports program immediately following a death. If the deceased has no family or friends, arrangements can be made by a professional associated with the person.
- Eligibility
- Eligibility for assistance is based on the deceased's assets. If the deceased was not single, the family unit's assets will be considered. Parental/guardian assets are considered for minor children. Contact for more details.

Required information: Next of kin, relative, or bona fide friend: full name, address, phone number, date of birth, social insurance number Deceased person: full name, address, date of birth, social insurance number, marital status, assets, life insurance/prepaid funeral, source of income, sponsorship arrangements (if applicable), date and place of death
