Financial Assistance for Funeral, Burial, and Cremation


Description

Provides financial assistance on behalf of deceased Hamilton residents who do not have sufficient funds in their estate to fully cover the cost of a basic funeral, burial, and/or cremation.

Next of kin, any relative, or bona fide friend can contact the Special Supports program immediately following a death. If the deceased has no family or friends, arrangements can be made by a professional associated with the person.

Eligibility
Eligibility for assistance is based on the deceased's assets. If the deceased was not single, the family unit's assets will be considered. Parental/guardian assets are considered for minor children. Contact for more details.

Contact to book an appointment. Required information: Next of kin, relative, or bona fide friend: full name, address, phone number, date of birth, social insurance number Deceased person: full name, address, date of birth, social insurance number, marital status, assets, life insurance/prepaid funeral, source of income, sponsorship arrangements (if applicable), date and place of death
