Description:
The NAAWAGEESHIIGOONG Indigenous Youth Wellness Program is designed to support Indigenous youth, particularly those in care, involved with the justice system, or at risk of homelessness. The program aims to reconnect youth with their culture, identity, and community through trauma-informed care, cultural teachings, peer support, and navigation of the justice system. It empowers youth to heal, grow, and thrive by promoting self-awareness, safety, leadership, and the principles of Mino bimaadiziwin-living a balanced, healthy, and good life. The program focuses on holistic well-being and culturally relevant rehabilitation.
Program Objective:
The NAAWAGEESHIIGOONG Indigenous Youth Wellness Program strives to foster a strong sense of identity, resilience, and leadership in Indigenous youth. By providing culturally grounded support and skills, the program seeks to reduce justice system involvement, promote mental wellness, and empower youth to thrive as leaders in their communities.
