Challenge to Change Program, Counselling Services for Men


Description

This program provides trauma-informed counselling for men (16+) who have experienced abuse, or who have caused harm, or who are at risk of causing harm in their relationships

The goal of the program is to increase the knowledge, skills, resources and self-awareness of participants in order to develop and maintain a healthier self and relationships

For some programs, the safety of the participants' partners is monitored through the Partner Check Program

Services provided:

Individual Counselling

  • Confidential and non-judgmental support for men
  • Strength-based, trauma-informed approach
  • Safety planning
  • Information and referrals to community services and programs
  • Resources for cultural and diverse needs

Group Counselling

  • Small groups to talk, connect, and heal
  • Parenting groups for dads
  • SCRIBE (Self, Character, Relationship, Interaction, Boundaries, Esteem)
  • Partner Assault Response Program (PAR) - 12-week group education and counselling program on intimate partner violence and non-abusive ways of resolving conflict. Survivors/partners of the offender provided with support including safety planning, referrals to community resources, and information on offender's progress
  • And other groups on building healthy relationships, managing emotions, and more

Rural Counselling

  • In-person, phone, or virtual sessions also available in Brant County
Eligibility
Ages 16 years and older
  • PAR - Offenders 18 years and older, ordered by the court to attend the program in response to a criminal charge involving intimate partner violence
  • SCRIBE - men 16 years and older
  • Voluntary groups - men 16 years and older
  • Individual Counselling - men 16 years and older
  • Youth Support Services - male youth 13-17 years old
