- Description
Halton Region Public Health works to promote healthy environments and protect Halton residents from health hazards including unsafe water, air pollution, extreme heat, the harmful effects of smoking and vaping, and the rabies virus.
Public Health Inspectors:
- Investigate reports of health hazards, potential rabies exposures, and adverse water quality incidents
- Inspect public recreational water facilities, e.g., public swimming pools
- Monitor water quality at Halton's public beaches
- Complete risk assessments for small drinking water systems
- Educate and inspect tobacco and vapour product retailers, schools and other premises to ensure compliance with the Smoke-Free Ontario Act, 2017
- Ensure compliance with Halton Region's smoking and vaping by-laws
- Educate private well owners on water quality and testing
