You Must Report Child Abuse or Neglect
In Ontario, everyone, including members of the public and professionals, is required by law to report suspected child abuse or neglect
- The duty to report applies to any child who is, or appears to be, under 16 years old
- If you have reasonable grounds to suspect that a child may be in need of protection, you must report it right away
- You do not need proof, if you are concerned, it is okay to call

If a child is in immediate danger, call 911 right away

WHAT TO KNOW
- Reporting includes concerns about children who may be at risk of abuse or neglect in their own homes or elsewhere
- The Child, Youth and Family Services Act, 2017 (CYFSA) exists to help protect children and support their safety and well-being
- Reports can be made anonymously
