DO NOT transport any Amnesty items to District Stations or Headquarters


Provides a safe, confidential way for Halton residents to surrender unwanted firearms, weapons, imitation firearms or ammunition and receive education about items that may be prohibited in Canada

  • offers safe disposal of unwanted firearms, weapons, ammunition and explosives
  • accepts potentially prohibited items and imitation firearms such as replicas, pellet guns and air-soft guns
  • ensures no criminal charges when items are surrendered under amnesty guidelines
  • improves community safety by reducing unwanted or illegally owned weapons
  • supports individuals who may unknowingly possess prohibited or inherited items
  • amnesty is not associated with any government buyback program

*** Items must not be transported to police stations or headquarters

Eligibility
  • individuals surrendering items located at an address within Halton Region
Application Process
  • complete the online form to request a pickup, HRPS will call within three business days to schedule a date and time
  • a plain-clothed officer in an unmarked vehicle retrieves the surrendered items at the arranged appointment
