The Mental Health Court Worker advocates, supports and provides referrals for youth who have come into contact with the criminal youth justice system and present with mental health issues. The Mental Health Court Worker can propose mental health diversion to the Crown and discuss treatment plans.

Aboriginal accused have the option to apply to have their charges diverted (deferred) out of the courts and placed into the Indigenous Community Justice Program.
Once in the program, a Healing Plan will be jointly created between the participant and trained Community Council Members. The Healing Plan addresses the underlying causes that lead to the offence by establishing conditions the participant will be required to complete during the adjournment period.

Youth Workers work closely with the FACS Social Worker, the youth and family to develop suitable treatment plans, including discharge plans to return the youth to their homes or other longer-term supportive living arrangements. Youth are involved in a variety of therapeutic programs and activities with staff to remediate identified cognitive and behavioural deficits

All YRN residential facilities are committed to the accommodation of gender diverse youth. As such, facility referrals can be based on self-identified gender or birth-assigned sex.
COMMUNITY PROGRAMS
Provides rehabilitative and supportive programs, mentors, and a safe environment that facilitates personal growth, change, accountability, and responsibility for youth. Services are open to youth who are involved in the Youth Criminal Justice System or have been referred for supports within the Home and Community Respite Program.
Post Detention / Custody: For youth aged 12-17. Supports youth towards a successful reintegration back to the community following periods of detention or custody. Referrals are made through Probation. A Youth Worker is assigned to work with the Probation Case Manager, the youth and family to develop a treatment plan
Extra Judicial Measures: Programs and services are provided to youth who have committed an offence as an alternative to formal charges. Programs are targeted to specific needs and tailored to support rehabilitation and are based on cognitive behavioral principles and interventions. Programs provide opportunities to promote pro-social behavior based on the needs of the youth. EJM is a community based program. Referrals are received from Contact Niagara or the Niagara Youth Justice Committee.
Extra Judicial Sanctions: Programs and services are provided to youth who have committed an offence as an alternative to court processes. Programs are targeted to specific needs and tailored to support rehabilitation and are based on cognitive behavioral principles and interventions. Programs provide opportunities to promote pro-social behavior based on the needs of the youth. EJS is a community based program. Referrals are received from the Niagara Crown Attorney's Office.
Youth Justice Committee: An alternative to formal court proceedings. A youth and their parent(s) or guardian will meet with a committee of community volunteers and the victim. Together they will negotiate meaningful ways or "sanctions" for the youth to repair the harm caused. Youth, 12 to 17-years-old, qualify if the offence is minor and police or the Crown decide they are eligible for the program.

- involvement with ADAPT may be one of the tasks assigned as part of the EJS/EJM contract

- provides alcohol/drug use and problem gambling assessments for probation and parole clients as required by a court order and/or parole certificate
- these screenings, in conjunction with the Probation and Parole Officer, determine the level of service required to meet the counselling condition of the order
- services include group and individual counselling and referrals to community programs/services tailored to the needs of the individual
Drug Court Program
- the Halton Drug Treatment Court (HDTC) is a judicially-supervised drug treatment and rehabilitation program for offenders whose criminal conduct is motivated by drug addiction
- expected to take 9 to 12 months to complete
- participation is voluntary and includes an application and screening process by the Federal Crown Attorney's office and the Court Liaison worker
- once accepted, ADAPT is the lead provider to address the substance addiction and the individual is assigned an addiction worker
Safe Beds
- a short-term residential bed program (Mental Health & Justice Beds) providing individuals living with mental illness, and recent or current involvement with the criminal justice system, with a 30-day stay with onsite 24-hour supports to assist in resolving the current crisis and creating strategies for long-term interventions
- referrals are made by Halton Regional Police and admission to the program is based on a screening with Safe Beds program staff
- Canadian Metal Health Association (CMHA), Supportive Housing Halton (SHH) and ADAPT work in collaboration to provide individuals with a service delivery model that is comprehensive
- if the individual is in need of addiction services, the ADAPT Safe Beds Addiction Worker will be assigned to provide services

- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)-based skills groups and workshops: Develop skills such as mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness
- AFFIRM: Group focused on developing new skills, meeting new people, and reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression for LGBTQ2S+ youth and adults
- Structured Relapse Prevention: For clients with moderate to severe substance use concerns looking to work towards changing alcohol/drug use, and learn how to cope with daily substance use triggers, cravings and risk situations
Transitional Case Management Program
- Dual Diagnosis Program: for people who have both a mental health concern and /or intellectual disability
- Justice Services: providing assistance and court support services for people who have a mental health/addiction concern and are involved in the criminal justice system
- Court Support: for people who have a mental health and/or addiction concern and are accused of an offence * help patients get the mental health and/or addictions support they need while they are in the midst of court proceedings, such as the community treatment court

Youth are diverted from the formal youth justice process, while being held accountable for their actions in a community context. Each young person is designed a program of measures that addresses their risks and needs of the person(s) harmed in the community.

This is a highly structured intensive community based alternative to custody for youth who have come in contact with the law. The Adult Diversion program diverts selected offenders from the normal court process, while still being accountable for their offence. Upon successful completion of the Adult Diversion Agreement, all further criminal proceedings relating to the charge against the offender will be terminated.
